The first policy seminar "State of the art in urban water management" took place the 1st of November in Amsterdam within the framework of the International Water Week.
It addressed the issues related to urban water management systems, often relying on inefficient, unsustainable and aged infrastructures. The newest approaches in urban water management were showcased, connecting them to the existing legislation and processes, such as Water Stewardship.
PROGRAMME AND PRESENTATIONS
The seminar was divided into two parts. Part 1 showed the current state of European policy and research developments, while Part 2 focused on the practical implementation of sustainable water management in cities and the challenges for implementation on the political, technical and economical level.
Both sessions included a set of presentations and an interactive debate.
Final programme of the seminar and presentations from the speakers are available here.
The seminar was organized in correspondance with an eminent event for the water industry: the International Water Week, (IWW). The IWW, was held between the 29th of October and the 4th of November 2011, housed a variety of conferences, activities and public events in order to examine global water issues and discuss possible solutions.
